Ocean Skimmer
Removing micro-plastics from our oceans!
Large pieces of plastic found in the ocean can break down over time from waves, sunlight, or other physical stress into smaller pieces called "micro-plastics". Plastics contain toxic chemicals like Phthalates, flame retardants, and BPA. When the plastic breaks into micro-plastics more toxins adhere to it. These micro-plastics are ingested by marine species that are marketed for human consumption.
The Ocean Skimmer project is the development and implementation of self-managed floating skimmers that use solar energy to collect micro-plastics from our ocean's surface to prevent it from ending up in the deep ocean.
